Perfection loop knot

Shown are the steps in attaching a lure to a heavy monofilament leader using the perfection loop knot. The perfection loop gives the lure more freedom from the heavy leader allowing for a better action from the lure and a more natural presentation.

Step 1 Tie an ordinary underhand knot in your leader but don't close it up. Then pass the tag of your leader through the eye of your lure. Shown here as a hard body but will work with  plastics as well.
Step 2 Thread the tag back through the knot.
Step 3 Now comes the tricky part: the tag has to bend back, go over the main line, up through the crossover forming the underhand knot, then  up through the gap between where the tag was passed through the knot in step 2.
Step 4 Close the knot with pressure on the loop against the main line.
